Three Bridges suffer first defeat

THREE Bridges were beaten for the first time this season by their nearest rivals for promotion from Division Two at Cuckfield.

But they are still 57 points clear at the top with St James, following their win at Ifield, just a point behind Cuckfield in third place.

Teenager Brad Gayler (82) was top scorer for Three Bridges as they made 206 for 7 and another youngster, left-arm spinner Josh Hayward took the bowling honours with 5 for 65.

Cuckfield reached their target at 207 for 4 thanks mainly to 103 not out from South African Sarel Erwee.

St James enjoyed a six wicket win at Ifield who now have some possible relegation worries.

Ifield made 183 for 8 declared with 74 from former St.James’s man Raza Ali.

The visitors then cruised to 184 for 4 with 79 from Hector Loughton and 80 from Adam Davies.

Haywards Heath won the battle of the bottom two when they beat Sidley by 50 runs after themselves being dismissed for 199.

Top scorer was acting skipper Callum Smith who made 77 as Scott Woodruffe took 3 for 27 and Pete King 3 for 55.

In the Sidley reply of 149 all out Paul Swannell made 37 as Fynn Hudson-Prentice took 4 for 29 and Rizvan Vahora 3 for 19.

Pulborough enjoyed a much needed win by nine wickets at Findon.

Findon were dismissed for 142 despite 64 from Jack Metters as Kuldeep Rawat took 4 for 45 and Sachin Chaudury 4 for 48.

Stuart Barber then hit 52 not out and Paul Allen 47 to take the visitors home at 143 for 1.

Goring won by four wickets at home to Glynde who made 126 all out in 36.3 overs with 31 from Joe Adams and 30 from George Hobden.

Matt Keen grabbed 5 for 25 and Brad Pace 3 for 48.

In reply Goring made 127 for 6 with Kieran Leaney 29 not out, Adam Davies took 4 for 45.
