Kent/Sussex Regional League Division 2
Crawley 3
Lewes II 2
Crawley broke the deadlock when a short corner was converted off a rebound by Steve Innes.
Lewes quickly responded when a chance was saved by Gary Thornton which was eventually netted on the rebound.
An excellent counter attack ended with Dan Evans shooting straight at the keeper.
The second goal soon followed as Crawley once again won a short corner after some great build-up play and Kieren Fuller managed to bobble it through the keeper’s legs.
Soon after this the game was stopped after Rob Gate was hit in the face by a ball from close range.
Crawley upped the tempo to make sure they won it for their player who had gone to hospital.
Captain Innes said: “It was a very tight game between two evenly matched teams but a great team performance.”
A period of attacks from both sides culminated in a another short corner put away low and fast by Fuller for 3-1.
Lewes did get one back late on but it was too little too late as Crawley held on to win.
