Crawley Down manager John Maggs was relieved his side broke a two-game winless run to beat Three Bridges 3-1 despite heavy rain in their local derby battle yesterday.

He said: “Anyone who witnessed it will see the game was played in atrocious conditions. I think at the end of the day the right side won in as much as we created more chances and passed the ball around really well.

“The last two games have been draws which were games I thought we should have won. Today the difference was we had everyone available. The side has not been up to standard through one reason or another through suspensions and unavailability.”

Down went ahead in the 38th minute put away from a narrow angle from the left hand channel by Fraser Logan.

Bridges got back onto level terms on 57 minutes through a lob over the keeper’s head by recent signing Hassan Nyang.

Down replied with two more goals, one punched into his own net by keeper Alan Mansfield from a swirling corner kick and another nine minutes from time netted from a short-range by Jamie Cade who buried a cross by Gaby Odunaike.
