Three Bridges Under-12s have been crowned IDentilam Indoor Cricket League champions.

The six-man team comprised of captain Arran Brown, James Russell, Joe Walker, Harry Bryant, Archit Patel and George Cave won all eight of their matches to storm to the title.

They saved their best performance until last, beating third-placed Capel by an impressive 88 runs.

Incredibly, it was the first time the squad had played the indoor format and they followed in the footsteps of Bridges’ senior side, who won the county title last month.

Proud coach Steve Brown said: “As the club revels in the success of the senior side, it is great to see that the conveyor belt of talent shows no sign of drying up.

“It is a fantastic achievement by the Under-12s to end the campaign with a perfect eight wins from eight matches.

“Throughout the season, the standards set by these boys and their approach to the various disciplines has drawn much praise and admiration from many who have witnessed them in action.

“They are a particularly talented group and this was evident in their batting and bowling.

“But it is the non-skill items, such as running between the wickets and backing up in the field, that really set them apart.

“When combined with their individual and collective desire to succeed it really does show why this group are very special indeed.”

Bridges had started the campaign in record-breaking form, racking up a league-best 151 against West Chiltington.

They never looked back after that, scoring more than a hundred in each game and more than a thousand overall at an average of almost 13 per over.

They ended the entire season, losing just 15 wickets in total.
