CRAWLEY Down’s seven-match unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday away to Chipstead.

Their defeat was sealed through a goal scored in in the 55th minute by Marcus Cassius.

The Anvils had chances themselves when the in-form Luke Blewden twice went close but they could not grab the vital equaliser.

Manager Darren Guirey said: “Defensively we were good but in midfield and upfront we didn’t get going.

“Bearing in mind how well we have been playing, it was a game we should have won.

“We had loads of possession but could put away our chances. Luke wasn’t alone, others missed as well!

The Anvils boss vowed to get back into winning ways this week with games coming thick and fast with a home tie against Country Legaue Division 2 side Littlehampton in the quarter-final of the Sussex Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

They will then be at home again in the league on Saturday when the visitors will be Faversham.
