THREE Bridges manager Paul Faili picked out his goalkeeper Simon Lehkyj for producing a man of the match display which helped earn them a 1-1 draw away to Derbyshire side Gresley in their FA Vase fourth round tie on Saturday.

They must all go again in the replay at Jubilee Field this Saturday for a place in the last 16.

Bridges took an early fourth minute lead from the penalty spot put away by Tim Rivers after Abu Touray was brought down by keeper Gary Hately.

Bookies’ favourites to win, Gresley equalised through Royce Turville nine minutes into the second half and although both sides had their chances, Bridges had a lot to do to stop Gresley from adding a second during the 120 minutes played.

Faili said: “I thought we were good for the draw. There were times when we could have nicked it and times when they could have nicked it. They (Gresley) were quick and you could see they are a quality side who worked exceptionally well across the park.

“For me our man of the match was Simon Lehkyj who was pulling saves out of the bag that no normal goalkeeper has ever done. He was unbelievable.

“Callum Donaghey stepped up in Ellis Hooper’s shoes and was a tower of strength.”

Faili also praised the warm welcome given by the host club and reckoned: “This is the best place I have ever been to in five years in charge. Their fans were absolutely brilliant and I’ve never seen such support (524 attendance) for step five football.”
