Matt Sparrow has left Crawley Town after failing to agree terms on a new contract.

The former Brighton midfielder, who joined Reds in the January window, confirmed his exit in a tweet, saying: “Thanks for all the messages enjoyed my time at Crawley good club and have a great set of the lads there.”

Sparrow made 21 appearances and scored three goals.

Manager Richie Barker said: “We have been talking to Matt for a while and at the outset we agreed a time frame for the discussions so everyone knew where they stood.

“We have reached that time and unfortunately we haven’t been able to reach an agreement so Matt is moving on.

“I would like to thank him for his services since he came to the club. He is a model professional and we wish him all the best for his future career.”

Josh Simpson is expected to sign a new contract by the end of the week after telling the Crawley Observer he was looking forward to extending his stay.

Keeping hold of Mustapha Dumbuya is still unlikely with the right back in talks with a number of other clubs.
