Division 3 East
Haywards Heath 182-7 dec
Crawley 183-5
Crawley’s season is gathering momentum after a slow start and, like last week, they won at
home batting second.
Haywards Heath posted 182-7 following 57 from Ben Francis and 54 from Callum Smith.
Crawley won with five wickets to spare off 53.1 overs with captain Harry Chaudhary leading the way, hitting 92.
Chaudhary said: “Haywards Heath had experienced players and started well, reaching 59 without loss.
“We then dropped three or four catches and allowed Francis to stay in. We then put our spinners on and Anuj Nagpal(2-23) and I took four wickets between us and reduced them to 75-4.”
Following his fine debut, South African Rhett Bridgens took 2-53.
Heath declared on 182-7 after 49.3 overs believing they had enough runs to win.
However Crawley made a cracking start by putting on 53 for the opening partnership between former Delhi professional Chaudhary and fellow opener Warren Schultz.
Harry hit 10 fours and a six in his match-winning innings of 92, gained off just 82 balls.
He was out off the last ball before the drinks break but Crawley continued the good work with fine knocks by Erik Dewell (37 not out) and Rizwan Hussain who made 42.
Fifth-placed Crawley take on leaders Lindfield away this Saturday.
