Sussex T20 Cup 1st Round
Three Bridges 164-3 beat Lindfield 121-9 by 43 runs
Three Bridges skipper Danny Alderman promoted himself to open the batting and the gamble paid off as he went on to score 103 not out to clinch victory against Lindfield in the Sussex T20 Cup.
Alderman said: “We had some problems with our batting in recent weeks and I thought I would try opening to try to get us off to a better start and the gamble paid off.”
Alderman smacked six sixes during his stay at the crease. The next highest score was Atif Elahi who struck 13 not out.
In Lindfield’s innings Vic Davies took 3-16 off four overs and Jigga Parekh took 3-14.
Bridges will be at home to Brighton & Hove in the second round on June 30.
Bridges’ teenage star Tim Moses has torn his posterior cruciate ligament in his knee and could be out for the rest of the season after injuring himself during the warm-up while playing for Sussex II v Hampshire.
Sohail Shah fractured his ankle during Bridges warm-up on Saturday and could also be out for the rest of the season.
Alderman said: “Both these injuries are big blows for just us as both players have shown a lot of promise.”
