Surrey Police is appealing for information after a gang attack on a vulnerable man.

Police said a man, in his early 20s, was assaulted by around five youths at about 7.30pm on Thursday (June 6) outside the Tesco Express on Brighton Road, Horley.

The man sustained an injury to his ribs and abdomen and his mountain bike was stolen.

Investigating officer Detective Constable David Every, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for the man involved and one which is likely to stay with him for some time.

“The bike was the man’s main form of transport and I am hoping this appeal will help reunite him with his stolen property.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident which may connect to contact us with information.

“I also urge anyone who knows the whereabouts of the stolen bike or has their suspicions around someone they know to contact us with information.”

The main offender was described as a white male, around 17-years-old, slim with short spiky blonde hair.

Officers from the Reigate and Banstead Safer Neighbourhood Team have been assisting detectives with their investigation.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the bike can call the police on 101.
