A FULLY-FIT Crawley Town squad will play without fear at Hull on Saturday in their FA Cup Fourth Round tie.
Steve Evans takes his troops to the KC Stadium for what is arguably the second biggest match in the Reds’ history, and with Claude Davis recovered from the injury he picked up at Plymouth, he will have a strong squad to select from.
“We will be organised as best we can,” he said. “There will be no fear, but excitement.
“Its the best cup competition in the world and we are desperate to be in it on Saturday night when we drive out of Hull.
“(Hull manager) Nicky Barmby has the dressing room behind him. We will face a side that when they get into our half there will be yellow and amber jerseys everywhere. That’s the way the manager plays and how he played as a player.
“We are going to have to be extra diligent defensively, win, lose or draw we will take some support from the Hull City fans when we leave because we will go there and try and play the right way. If you break it down they have better players than us, that’s why they are Championship and some have played in the Premier League, if we play well and they play well, they will beat us.
“It is the FA Cup, they are not guaranteed to play really well, we believe we can go there and play really well. It has got all the hallmarks of a great cup tie between two teams who like to attack. I would rather be involved in a game which ends 6-5 than 1-0.”
Meanwhile, the January transfer window closes on Tuesday, and Evans hinted that while there would probably be no new faces in the squad for Saturday, there might be news on a loan arrival soon. After revealing he had been spoken to ‘three or four of the top Premier League managers regarding loans, and was in discussions with West Ham manager Sam Allardyce this morning, the Reds boss added: “Hopefully we will have some news on Saturday. The managers, young players and representatives have to be happy with it. We are trying our level best.”
