WITH Christmas less than a month away, youngsters in Ifield set to work to create Christmas treats and Advent crowns.
On Saturday (November 26), children met at St Margaret’s Church for a festive workshop where they spent a fun morning decorating biscuits and sticking cloves into oranges to create a scented Pomander. The Advent crowns were created with candles and greenery.
On Sunday morning the Rev Margaret Hanson blessed the Advent crowns and invited one of the children to come and light the first candle of the church crown.
Meanwhile, the Advent Crib, consisting of Mary, Joseph, shepherds and sheep, was blessed and taken home by Claire Budd and her two children to start its journey from home to home during Advent.
The evening saw the Parish churches of Ifield - St Margaret’s, St Alban’s, St Leonard’s and St Mary Magdalene’s - coming together for an Advent Carol service.
