CRAWLEY Down boss Darren Guirey praised his team for their fine all-round display in smashing Sittingbourne 5-1 on Saturday and reckoned they could have won by more.

He highlighted the good performance put in at the back by the defence and stressed the hard work of Luke Blewden up front.

But Jamie Cade was clearly the star finisher of the day with a superb hat-trick which paved the way for the one-sided victory and increased his spectacular goal tally to 10 goals in just 12 appearances.

Guirey said: “We played ever so well and the scoreline flattered Sittingbourne. The performance was very good all-round.

“The team is solid and we have strengthened up defensively. We also have players who can score goals.

“Luke Blewden worked his socks off and should have had a hat-trick.

Tom Burton got the Anvils off the mark in the ninth minute and the lead was soon increased six minutes later with Cade’s first goal of the game.

Ant Hogg immediately pulled one back for the vistors but then Down rallied with a 23rd minute strike by Blewden followed by two more goals by the diminutive Cade during the second half.

DOWN: Zawadski, Page, Michell, Jones, Nyang, Burton, Logan (Mustafa), Storey, Odunaike (Wood), Blewden, Cade.
