POCKET rocket Paulo Da Silva defended his World No1 ranking with an brilliant third round win over the Italian Luca Genovese.
Coming out to a capacity crowd at te Effingham Park Hotel, Copthorne, Da Silva looked confident and in the zone, he started the fight strong and landed some excellent punch and kick combonations!
The Crawley kicker caught Luca with a lovely left hook and forced an eight-count.
Genovese tried to fight his way back in to the contest but Da Silva was too sharp for the Italian.
Fighting for the World WPKL title, Da Silva kept the pressure on and forced a technical knock-out in the third round with a bombardment of punches and low kicks leaving the Italian reeling.
Crawley Martial Arts Academy’s other World champion Ruth Ashdown took on Portuguese champion Leonor Augostinho at flyweight.
Ashdown was very focused and put on one of the best performances of her career with an empthatic display of varied techniues to force the referee to stop the bout early in the fifth round.
Danny Conaughton from Southgate challenged Scott Richards from Bristol for the ISKA Commonwealth tiitle.
Connaughton landed some heavy shots and took the decision over Richards.
Local lad Alan Sawyer was also on the card taking on Remmy Edwards from London.
