A WOMAN who reported she had been forced into a van by two men in Horley has admitted making a false allegation.
Surrey Police received a report of a suspicious incident in Horley on the night of Wednesday, 25 April.
A woman in her late teens reported that while walking along Langshott Lane, near to the junction with Tanyard Way, she had been forced into a van by two men before escaping from the vehicle several minutes later near to Salfords Industrial Estate.
Detectives spoke with the victim earlier today (Saturday, 28 April) when she admitted making a false allegation.
Following the allegation detectives and Reigate and Banstead neighbourhood officers immediately launched a thorough and extensive investigation, carrying house to house enquiries and reviewing local CCTV footage.
On Thursday, 26 April Targeted Patrol Team and Roads Policing Unit officers assisted detectives and neighbourhood teams with their investigation by carrying out an anniversary visit in Horley where vehicles were stopped and around 150 occupants were spoken to by police in a bid to gather information.
Surrey Police would like to thank the residents of Horley for their patience and co-operation while officers have carried out enquiries into the allegation over recent days.
