A MAN was threatened with a knife and robbed of his wallet in an attack in Crawley last night (Thursday 7 June).

The 21-year-old victim was outside Wine Express in Worth Road between 8.30pm and 9pm when he was jumped on by two men who threatened him with the weapon.

He managed to escape and run through Pound Hill Parade and down an alleyway beside the Co-op but was chased by the offenders who pulled him to the ground in Crawley Lane and robbed him of his wallet.

The pair then made off down Crawley Lane, crossing Worth Road and running back up Worth Road into Spring Platt.

A police spokesperson said: “Although the victim wasn’t phyically injured he was understandably left very distressed by the incident.

“Numerous people and vehicles were in the area at the time of the robbery and we are appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or has information about the incident, to contact police as soon as possible on 101, quoting serial 1593 of 7 June. “Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
